Kendamil Formulation Update 2020
The legislation that sets requirements for the nutritional composition of infant and follow-on formulas has changed in 2020. Our Stage 1 and Stage 2 formulations have been updated to reflect this new legislation.
The changes in the legislation relate to new mandatory levels of certain vitamins, minerals and nutrients. In particular, the legislation mandates that DHA*, a type of Omega-3 fatty acid, be included in all infant and follow-on formulas. Omega-3 LCPs form part of a healthy diet and are already included in Kendamil products, although the levels have increased. In addition, we have amended the levels of vitamin D and choline as per the legislation. This changes will impact only our first infant milks and follow-on milks. Kendamil toddler milks will remain unchanged.
We welcome these positive legislative changes which we believe will raise the standards of the industry and we expect that these tweaks to the formulation will likely go unnoticed by your child. Kendamil has and always will use the finest ingredients, lovingly made in the Lake District, to deliver safe, wholesome and complete products for babies and toddlers – a promise we make to our parents in the UK and around the world.
You may also notice that Kendamil’s packaging has had a refresh, to reflect new nutritional details, improve our messaging and make clear for our customers exactly what we include (and equally importantly, what we do not include!) in our products.
